Outcomes:
– Deeper understanding of the purpose and situational relevance of Connection Circles (the why)
– Practice identifying system variables, causal links and potential leverage points (the how)
– Increased confidence to apply tool in real world situation

“We know that to see improved day-to-day behaviors and short and long-term results within a system, it’s important to understand how a system works …what’s happening, what’s working, what isn’t. Lasting, impactful change occurs when we understand a system fully and when we have the tools to change the system to produce desired results.” -The Waters Center for Systems Thinking

Connection circles are a collaborative systems thinking tool to help us turn our observations about the behavior of a system or story into a visible map of the feedback structure of a system – particularly an understanding of the meaningful connections and relationships between elements that change over time.

Come learn more and experiment with this simple and powerful tool that helps collaborators to:
1. Identify interdependencies – and the reinforcing or balancing causal loops that may be present in the system
2. Identify potential leverage points for action (places within a system where a small shift in one key variable can produce big changes in the rest of the system)
3. Surface and test our assumptions and understand our mental models about the shape of change
